Trebor manufactures ultrapure chemical pumps, mixers, and heating systems used in microelectronic device fabrication, high-grade chemical processing, and bulk handling of critical fluids for pharmaceutical and biotech markets where process purity and system reliability are of the utmost importance.

Trebor’s manufacturing headquarters is located in West Jordan – a suburb of Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. This beautiful mountain setting serves as an excellent transportation hub to our worldwide customers and provides a well educated workforce with a strong work ethic. We also maintain sales and service offices in Germany and Singapore to support key European and Asian markets.

 

History

A sometimes little known fact is that the name “Trebor” is the company founder’s first name spelled backwards! Robert Orr began developing our first PTFE air operated diaphragm pump in the late 70’s while managing his manufacturers’ representative firm headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. During visits to rapidly emerging semiconductor fabs throughout the west, a common manufacturing problem became evident. The industrial pumps used to transfer and circulate aggressive chemicals quickly corroded and risked contaminating the process. Relying on his formal engineering background and experience with fluoropolymers, Robert and a part-time engineering student created the technical foundation for ultrapure, corrosion resistant pumps known throughout the world today. The rest, as they say, is history.

Ever since that first pump was sold, Trebor has continued to evolve and expand our product offering with innovative solutions to satisfy our customers’ most demanding needs. In addition to our full line of pumps and accessories, Deionized water heaters were introduced in 1983 to improve cleaning effectiveness, production throughput, and process control. Today, Trebor is recognized as the industy leader in ultrapure point-of-use DI water heating with our patented thin film on quartz technology, which offers unprecedented control and system purity. Continuing our string of innovative product solutions, Trebor recently introduced the PureBlend chemical drum mixer specifically designed for blending and critical slurries. The patented PureBlend mixer offers the only 100% PFA mixing shafts on the market today.

IDEX acquired Trebor in 2000, joining an already extensive array of proprietary fluid handling and engineered products that enjoy leadership positions in niche markets.

We refer to this as the “Voice of the Customer”, which we aggressively log, disseminate, and react to.

Trebor formally embarked on our Six Sigma quality program implementation in 2001 to expand our problem solving toolset. This has reinforced a data-driven culture, as extensive metrics are used to track process performance and isolate and fix problems throughout the organization.

Lean manufacturing has also become a way of life at Trebor. Our formally trained employees use methods such as 5S, Kaizen and Value Stream Mapping to drive out inefficiency while creating processes that reduce lead time, manage cost, and improve quality.
